mean(X) = x1 + ... + + xn / N = 1.9

If xn is the household with the most children, xn is changed to xn+1.

mean(Y) = y1 + ... + + yn / N = x1 + ... + + (xn+1) / N = ({ x1 + ... xn } + 1 ) / N = (1.9 x 10) + 1) / 10 = (19 + 1) / 10 = 20/10 = 2

I think the median would be the same. It's just the top head that's changed, and that won't affect the median, which is in the middle.
